Nurtured State Collective is a child and youth practice dedicated to supporting young people and their families overcome mental health conditions that are complex and enduring. Our highly skilled and experienced clinicians, from a range of disciplines, provide comprehensive support alone ones’ journey in reaching their potential. We specialise in areas such as eating disorder treatment (including people experiencing Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder or Other Specified Feeding and Eating Disorders and Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorders), gender, family therapy and emotional distress and dysregulation. We expertly deliver evidence based treatments such as Family Based Treatment for eating disorders, skill building groups, Dialectic Behavioural Therapy and family therapy.

Treatment requires a team approach. In the case of eating disorders, we need to ensure each young person is medically stable to commence treatment. We will need to have observations monitored by your G.P. or the Paediatric Eating Disorders Service at the Royal Hobart Hospital, if local to nipaluna/Hobart .

We also work with people who are experiencing difficulties with eating, weight or body image issues, but who may not present with all the symptoms of a diagnosed eating disorder. Difficulties include disordered eating behaviours, weight management difficulties, emotional eating, excessive or compulsive exercising, fixation on healthy, pure or clean eating (Orthorexia) and negative body image.

We are accessible nationwide and offer treatment via telehealth.

Parent Treatment Groups

E a t i n g D i s o r d e r s

Eating disorders places tremendous stress on the family. Eating disorders especially take control and affect everyone. Parents and caregivers are often scared, confused and overwhelmed, not knowing how to support their loved one through to recovery.

At Nurtured State Collective, we understand that supporting parents and caregivers to care for their loved one significantly increases confidence. Confidence facilitates a quicker recovery.

Eating disorders can be very consuming and isolating for families. Parent treatment groups allow the parent/caregiver an opportunity to connect with other parents/caregivers in similar circumstances in a safe space. The group facilitators will provide education and tools to manage all aspects of re-feeding and will answer any question parents/caregivers may have.

Currently, groups are held via telehealth nationwide.
